Rani Rashmoni built the temple in 1847. The temple comprises of three parts. Of these, the smallest is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The most beautiful shrine adjacent to it houses the renowned idol of the Goddess Kali. Structurally, the temple is set on a platform in a vast courtyard, which is encircled by a band of blood-red paint. Opposite to this building, along the riverbanks, are situated five identical temples. The Dakshineshwar Kali Temple is a popular tourist place.

Botanical Garden

Botanical Garden in Kolkata is the largest and oldest of its kind in India. The Garden war laid out in 1787. It covers an area of 109.27 ha and is famous for its 250 years old Great Banyan tree, which covers 382 m in its circumference, with over 600 aerial roots. There are more than 30,000 varieties of trees and plants. Belur Math
