Royal Orient Tour One of the world's most fascinating train journeys awaits you when you board the Royal Orient. The train takes you through two culturally-rich states of Gujarat and Rajasthan, unfolding before your eyes the splendour of India's heritage and charms.

A week-long itinerary, usually between October and March, in utter luxury complete with personalized service from liveried attendants, the Royal Orient comprises 13 coaches and saloons. Equipped with all the facilities available in a deluxe hotel, each of the air-conditioned coaches are comfortable and tastefully decorated. Each coach has bathrooms with hot and cold water. In addition, there are multi-cuisine restaurants and a bar, The Watering Hole, where you can order any drink of your choice. There is also a comfortable library where you can catch up with your reading.

The Royal Orient takes you through a magical journey where you get to feel spirituality in the Jain Temple city of Palitana, the Arabian Sea at the ancient city of Somnath, Mahatma Gandhi's Ashram at Ahmedabad, the lions at Gir, the lake city of Udaipur and history in Jaipur. You will travel by night and take in the sights during the day.

Day 1 - Wednesday - Delhi
Embark on your dream journey of lifetime.

The Royal Orient train departs from Delhi Cantonment Railway Station at 1500 hrs. Enjoy the dinner on board.

Day 2 - Thursday - Chittaugarh / Udaipur
Alight from the Royal Orient train at the Chittaurgarh Railway Station at 0630 hrs. After arriving at Chittaurgarh, embark on a sightseeing tour of this town synonymous with valor and courage. After visiting the Chittaurgarh Fort, proceed to Udaipur, the City of Lakes of Rajasthan.

Arrive at Udaipur railway station at 1215 hrs.

Replete with superbly crafted palaces, temples and havelis, Udaipur is also called the City of Lakes thanks to beautiful lakes dotting the city.

Proceed to the old city, which has remnants of city wall tangling around beautiful Lake Pichola with its bathing ghats and island palaces.

Enjoy a boat ride on Lake Pichola wondering at the awesome view towards Udaipur and pay a visit to the Jagmandir Island Palace, or stroll along the lakeshore to appreciate the spectacular sunset. Explore the magnificent City Palace & Museums. Also take a pedal boat to the garden island on romantic Lake Fateh Sagar.

Royal Orient departs Udaipur at 1830 hrs and heads towards Junagarh.

Day 3 - Friday - Mehsana/Ahmedabad/Junagarh/Veraval
The Royal Orient arrives at Ahmedabad railway station via Himmatnagar. After arrival head towards Junagadh. Sightseeing excursion of Junagadh include visit to Ashokan Rock Edict. Ashok the 3rd century great Mauryan Empire excavated rock edicts throughout the length and breadth of his kingdom. These rock edicts give a deep insight into the administration and his religious perception. Other places of interest in Junagarh are Darbar Hall Museum, Mausoleum of Nawab Mahabat Khanji. After visiting all these head for Veraval and visit the famous Somnath Temple. Somnath Temple was sacked by the 11 the century predator Muhmud Ghaznavi who attacked India some 17 odd times thanks to the riches of the temples of the land at the time. Overnight on board.

Day 4 - Saturday - Sasangir/Ahmedpur/Mandvi
Pay a visit to the famous tourist destinations of Gujarat: Sasangir, Ahmedpur and Mandvi. Depart for Sasan Gir, the Lion Sanctuary after breakfast. Depart for Delwada and also visit Ahmedpur Madvi Beach and Diu (Fort and St. Paul's Church) upon arrival. Proceed towards Palitana. Overnight on board.

Day 5 - Sunday - Palitana/Sakhrej
Move towards Palitana and Sakhrej in the Royal Orient. Tour the 863 Jain Temples atop the Shatrunjaya Hills. After lunch arrive at Sarkhej. Visit Vishalla village. From Sakhrej leave for Ahmedabad by bus.

Day 6 - Monday - Ahmedabad/Ranakpur/Udaipur
Rich in history, Ahmedabad is the capital city of the state of Gujarat is dotted with a large number of historical landmarks, palaces, temples and mosques.

Morning sightseeing tour of Ahmedabad (Adalaj Stepwell, Gandhi Ashram, Calico Museum of Textiles, Sidi Sayyad's Mosque, Shopping etc.). Depart for Udaipur. Stop en route and visit the beautifully sculpted Jain temples of Ranakpur. The intricately carved white marble of the temples in a condition will leave you wondering whether the structures are 500 years old. After sightseeing in Udaipur, depart for Jaipur. Overnight stay at the hotel

Day 7 - Tuesday - Jaipur
Jaipur, the city of fairytale fascination, is awash with attractions, which are silent sentinel of its glory and splendor.

You will embark on the sightseeing tour of Jaipur in an air-conditioned coach. Pay a visit to the Hawa Mahal (the Palace of Winds), a masterpiece of architecture, built in the 18th century to enable the household ladies to watch the processions and activities on the streets.

After visiting the Hawa Mahal will be followed by an excursion to Amber Fort, where you can enjoy elephant ride. Indulge in shopping for jewellery, handicrafts, carpets, blue pottery and textiles for which Jaipur is renowned all over the world. Also visit Rajasthali near the Ajmeri Gate. Rajasthali is the only Rajasthan Govt. Emporium where you can find genuine handicrafts at fixed prices.

After taking lunch at a Palace Hotel, embark on a city tour involving the City Palace, which houses the residence of the erstwhile royal family.

Near the City Palace is the famous Jantar Mantar, one of the five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh II across the country. After visiting the observatory, you will be transported to the railway station at 18.30 hrs. The Palace-On-Wheels leaves Jaipur at 19.30 hrs. You will be served dinner on board.

Day 8 - Wednesday - Delhi
Next early morning arrive at Delhi Cantonment Railway Station. Board a train/flight for your onward journey or way back home.
