The location of the Laxmi Vilas Palace is unique. The palace is situated in 50 acres of mustard fields. It was built for Raja Raghunath Singh, the younger brother of the king of Bharatpur, Maharaja Ram Singh. Its 22 rooms have all attached baths and are partially air-conditioned. Incidentally, if you want to feel royal, the palace has been host to celebrities like the Duke of Edinburgh, the Shah of Iran and the King of Nepal.
The restaurant, Courtyard, serves Indian and Continental delicacies while the Royal Bar is personally attended to by members of the royal family.
There is a swimming pool and in the evenings cultural programmes with puppet shows and folk dances are held.
